Frequently Asked Questions
Training
Training is held at Richard Murden Reserve Netball Courts, Hawthorne Parade, Haberfield (old netball courts closest to Marion St)
Training is held on Monday and Wednesday afternoon/evenings between 4.00pm and 9.00pm for one hour throughout the Winter season. Training times are dependent on coach availability, and coaches are assigned once teams are finalised. Please note, training during school holidays is at the discretion of each coach.
We ask players to wear appropriate training clothes – shorts or tights, t-shirt and supportive footwear and no jewellery.
Please also bring a water bottle and hat if sunny.
Games
We have two seasons each year:
Winter season is held between April and September. There are 14 regular rounds, plus finals. We do not play during school holidays nor public holidays. Training commences usually in March.
Summer season is held between October and December. There are typically 10 rounds with no finals series. There is also no training for summer as games are held on Tuesday and Wednesday nights.
The netball season does not follow school terms.
All games are played at Cintra Park Netball Courts, Crane Street, Concord.
Winter season:
All games are held on Saturdays.
Modified and Junior (8-15 years) games are held hourly between 8:30am and 12:30pm.
Cadets (16/17) and Seniors (18+) play at 12:30pm, 1:50pm or 3:10pm each week.
Mixed teams play at 4.30pm.
Once allocated a timeslot you play at the same time each week for the duration of the
season.
In the event of wet weather, Inner West Netball Association will make a decision to abandon or commence games for the upcoming timeslot. For example, the 8:30am timeslot will be decided at 7.30am, 9.30am timeslot will be decided at 9:00am, etc.
On a day of wet weather, each timeslot is decided separately. If the 8:30am timeslot is abandoned, the 9.30am timeslot may still go ahead. A reminder that wet weather doesn’t guarantee the day is cancelled!
All updates are posted on the Inner West and Haberfield Facebook page. If in doubt, please
contact your Team Manager for further updates.
Registrations
Registrations are open to everyone! No matter age, ability or gender, we have something for you.
Registration is through the PlayHQ system – CLICK HERE TO SIGN UP
Age groups are determined by the age you are turning in the current calendar year.
Once your registration has been submitted, you will receive a confirmation email. This means we have received your registration but does not mean you have been placed in a team yet as team allocations happen once the registration period has closed. This is to
ensure existing players are given an opportunity to register before vacancies are filled by new members.
Once teams are finalised, team lists will be sent to coaches and managers. For younger players, your coach will be in touch prior to the start of the season with training times. For senior players, your team coordinator will let you know playing times once they are released.
If you are new to Haberfield NC, our registrar will need to sight your proof of age. This is required by the Association to verify players are registered in the correct age group. This applies up to 18yrs only.
In the meantime, head to our socials to keep up with the latest news. Links are at the top of this page.
Once registrations are closed, we will only accept further registrations if there is a vacancy in a relevant team. Vacancies will be posted on our website and social pages.
Night Competition, also known as Summer Comp, is a short summer season held mid-week. Games are shorter and the season runs for 10 weeks. There are no finals held.
Night Comp is a great introduction to netball for anyone who hasn't played before or wants to get back into netball after taking some time off.
No training for Night Comp and games are held at Cintra Park Netball Courts, Concord on Tuesday and Wednesday.
